Peter Doig was born in Edinburgh in 1959, raised in Trinidad in the Caribbean and Montreal and Toronto in Canada, educated in London. Doig was at once nomadic and connoisseur of the corner of the world. In his paintings, for example, motifs were found inspired by Trinidad's dense jungle foliage - and the white snowy landscapes of North America.
