Louisiana Edition featuring the work Lulu & Schön by South African artist William Kentridge, who made his breakthrough in the early 1990s with poetic black and white stop motion films. Since then, he has further developed his idiom and combined it with his love for both the film and theater worlds, thereby creating larger, engrossing installations.
Louisiana presented the first major solo exhibition in Scandinavia with William Kentridge (born 1955) in 2017. The exhibition focused on a number of the artist's late works from the period 2003-2016, when his lifelong enthusiasm for theatre, opera, literature, film and music culminated in a series of installations consisting of moving images, music, text and sculptural objects.
About Louisiana Editions
The Louisiana Edition is original graphics, created directly for Louisiana by artists who have exhibited at the museum in recent years and are all represented in the museum's collection. These are obvious collector's items.
When Louisiana celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008, a number of the artists who have exhibited at the museum were asked to create a graphic work that could then be sold to support Louisiana. The series has since been continuously expanded.
The works are produced in limited editions (most in an edition of 30) and priced in accordance with the artists themselves, who have generously wanted to support Louisiana, as the income from the series will go uncut for new purchases for the museum's collection. The works are unframed unless otherwise stated.
