Four-leaf clover bracelet in gold-plated silver with handmade four-leaf clover from Flora Danica. The four leaves of the four leaf clover represent faith, hope, love – and the fourth and very rare leaf represents luck. The four-leaf clover used to create this small brooch was picked in Denmark in the 1950s. At the time, Flora Danica was the first – and only – company in the world that could gild and thus immortalize flowers.
The story of Flora Danica jewelry dates back to 1952, when one of the popular variety artists of the 1930s, Orla Eggert, developed the idea of making jewelry based on nature's unique designs.
The first Flora Danica jewelery was based on a copper covering of flowers and leaves, which was skillfully transformed by skilled professionals into a piece of jewelery which was subsequently plated with 22 carat gold.
Already in the 1960s, Flora Danica found it difficult to obtain all the flowers and leaves that needed to be used in the rapidly growing production. In particular, it was difficult to obtain all the four-leaf clovers that the customers requested. That's why there was a regular ad in the newspaper calling on people to hand in four-leaf clovers every Sunday - and as a reward there was one kroner per one. four leaf clover.
In order to keep up with the increasing demand, they started in the 1970s to produce the jewelery in solid sterling silver. The jewelery was - and still is to this day - based 100% on the original casts of flowers and leaves from Danish nature in the 1950s and 60s.
