Get a touch of Paris with this cushion in appliquéd velvet from French design brand Mapoésie, which is based in Paris and produces luxurious textiles from natural materials. Inner cushion included.
The French designer Elsa Poux is behind Mapoésie and graduated from l'École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. She is inspired by ethnic cultures, good craftsmanship and by the Russian artist Sonia Delaunay, who stated in 1923 that her textiles were as much poetry as they were an expression of a state of mind and the essential base for her paintings.
Elsa Poux has implemented a very personal style and a strong graphic identity, whose modernity simultaneously refers to old traditions. For her creations, she uses, for example, an older technique called serigraphy - a printing method where you cut out two templates, glue them together and frame them. In this way, a high quality of print and color reproduction is achieved.
Elsa Poux advocates slow fashion and solid craftsmanship; she also uses a form of weaving where it can take up to a week to produce the creations.
Mapoésie prefers natural materials in all their collections. The materials specially woven for Mapoésie allow a variation in finish, lightness or thickness. Natural fibers are obtained by means of physical and mechanical processing without changing their composition. The price of these materials is generally higher than that of synthetic materials.
