The Filos rug from Røros Tweed is designed by the Norwegian designer, Runa Klock. Filos means friend and Klock has named the rug after his cat. The pattern is inspired by the Scottish tartan patterns and woven in double double shank/panama striped warp yarn. The color mixtures that occur in the squares where the woven threads cross each other are harmonious and warm, going from light to dark. In this way, you can choose the expression yourself, depending on how the carpet is folded.

Peder Hiort, who was director of the Røros Copperworks in the 18th century, bequeathed his entire fortune to the poor of Røros - a will which is characterized as one of the wisest donations in the Nordics, as it showed exceptional foresight and social responsibility, which still has its justification today in other parts of the world.

Røros Tweed is a continuation of Hiort Foundation's home improvement business. It began with weaving courses in 1938, where the textiles were produced in people's private homes. Later, investments were made in machines and the
factory's production is now concentrated on textiles made of 100% pure new wool, with designs that are often inspired by the cultural heritage and the fascinating high mountain nature of Røros.
