Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) is probably best known to most as one of the most prominent Danish designers of furniture and textiles. But Ditzel was not least behind the design of more than 150 pieces of jewellery, for A. Michelsen and Georg Jensen, among others. When Nanna Ditzel started on a new piece of jewelry, it wasn't drawings and sketches that were her starting point. It was modeling wax that could be worked into all imaginable shapes. Small baskets of modeling wax and tools stood in the drawing room, in the home and in the cottage - she was always busy.

In 1950, Nanna Ditzel, together with her husband, Jørgen Ditzel, won the first prize of the Goldsmith's Association's first prize for their very first jewellery: a necklace, an asymmetrical ring, two brooches and a bracelet. The finger ring was made for the ring finger of the left hand, and it later became a characteristic of Nanna Ditzel that her rings were designed to sit on one hand or the other, so that they neither bothered nor stuck out in the wrong places.

In Nana Ditzel's Jewelry, Anne Cathrine Wolsgaard Iversen tells the story of the design process, the sources of inspiration and the collaboration partners. The book contains a full overview of the jewellery. Richly illustrated.
