In Louisiana Magazine no. 58 you can, among other things, read about the American artist Roni Horn (b. 1955) in connection with the exhibition The Detour of Identity (May 2024). Roni Horn is one of the biggest and most respected names in contemporary art. The exhibition is her first comprehensive solo presentation in the Nordic region.

In many ways, Roni Horn stands as a unique figure in contemporary art. She has exhibited a wide range of the world's leading museums and work in all media - photography, sculpture and drawing. She considers drawing to be her primary activity and the true foundation of her the entire body of work. Additonally, she is a brilliant writer and has published many books.

Roni Horn's work essentially revolves around identity. Who am I, what does my gender mean, what language is available for emotions, what is the order of nature versus that of humanity? Her questions are philosophical and fundamental, her answers are the concrete artworks - open to interpretation.

The exhibition shows excerpts from film classics to present new interpretations of Horn's work. Roni Horn draws on the film's language and tools in her practice and her stories. In the rooms, Horn's photography, drawing, and sculpture are thus presented together with film excerpts by masters such as Bergman, Dreyer, von Trier, Chabrol, and Hitchcock.

The exhibition, entitled showcases examples of key works from throughout Roni Horn’s career.
