Exclusive, handmade rug in New Zealand wool, originally designed by Vibeke Klint, now relaunched by the Danish brand, Nordic Modern in collaboration with the Klint family and weaver Gitte Annette Knudsen, who worked for Vibeke Klint for a number of years. Each individual rug is handwoven and therefore unique. The weave varies slightly from rug to rug, depending on the person who weaves the rug. An undermat is included for the runner.

The VK-3 carpets are based on a so-called chain rope technique with "lightning" details in flat weave. This design was typical of Vibeke Klint rugs from the 1980s and 1990s.
VK-10 is also woven in the so-called chain rope technique with Vibeke Klint's characteristic details in flat weave, "lightning fire" and "mouse stairs" in black and white.
Combining the two techniques, warp rope and flat weave, is challenging as they work against each other and only the most skilled and experienced weavers are able to balance the rug, i.e. to make the edges flush and straight.
The handwoven Vibeke Klint carpets are made in northern India. Nordic Modern collaborates with the third generation in a local production workshop with an associated dyehouse and showroom, which has proud craft traditions, extensive experience with weaving techniques and a solid knowledge of materials.
Vibeke Klint (1927-2019) has been described as the 20th century's most significant Danish weaver and designer. Her life's work, which includes everything from carpets, home and clothing textiles to interior design and furnishing projects, teaching and communication, is an important part of Danish design and Danish cultural heritage. Vibeke Klint developed her textiles in close dialogue between her watercolors, materials and weavings.
The woolen yarn is hand-dyed, and there may therefore be variations in the color tones.
