The city - a book about the city as a network, by Mikkel Thelle, a native of Copenhagen and urban historian at Aarhus University. Thelle describes the city as a network of inhabitants and buildings, streets and alleys, cables and sewers, which connect with each other in a criss-cross way. And each city enters into new and larger patterns with other cities, grows beyond all boundaries to such an extent that it no longer makes sense to talk about land or nature. Instead, the entire globe will soon be covered by one large settlement – the city.
The city is part of the series, Tänkepauser. In just 60 pages, researchers from Aarhus University convey their knowledge about exactly what they know most about. The books can make you wiser about everything from faith, hope and love to ants, monsters and villains.
