Love Life – David Hockney Drawings 1963-1977 presents 41 early drawings in ink, pencil and watercolor by the English artist, David Hockney (b. 1937) – who is richly represented in Louisiana. This selection of drawings, both known and unknown, demonstrates how Hockney's love of life is expressed through his extraordinary ability to closely observe and translate the world around him into art. Friends, places and inanimate objects are all depicted with insight and energy.
David Hockney is considered one of the greatest cartoonists of all time, and his drawings from the 1960s and 1970s are among his finest works.
Today, David Hockney divides his time between California and Normandy. The book has been produced in collaboration with Chris Stephens, director of the Holburne Museum in Bath. Stevens has curated several exhibitions of Hockney's work.
