The Carnival of the Animals is a completely unique children's book with music. The book contains 6 small excerpts of classical music pieces from the orchestral suite Carnival of the Animals, composed by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. Each piece of music is accompanied by a fine nursery rhyme based on the famous musical suite. In addition, the book is illustrated by Amanda Enright with beautiful paper silhouettes in 3D.
The music for the Carnival of the Animals was composed in 1886 for a private event and is today one of Camille Saint-Saën's best-known compositions, often performed in concert halls around the world.
One of the pieces of music, Aquarium, has since been used in both Disney films and Harry Potter.
The rhymes have been freely rewritten into Danish (after Èlodie Fondacci's French edition Le Carneval des animaux) by Linda Maria Kronborg and Janet Ring.
