Bellhop was designed by the two British designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby in collaboration with Flos. The two designers are among England's most well-known and are behind the two design studios in London, Universal Design Studio, founded in 2001 and Map, founded in 2012.

Flos was established back in 1962 by Dino Gavina and Cesare Cassina in Merano, Italy with a production of classic lamps, some of which are still produced today.
