Kay Fisker (1893-1965) is known as one of Denmark's leading architects of the 20th century. His work as a furniture designer is less well known, but early in his career he developed a simple, functional design.

From 1936 and for a few decades onwards, his user-friendly furniture could be seen on the many ferries that connected the Danish regions, and on the English and Norwegian ships. He also designed for several interior design companies, but only a few of Fisker's furniture have survived today.
