Louisiana print with the work, La montagne d'attende (1930s), by the Danish surrealist artist, Rita Kernn-Larsen (1904-1998). Kernn-Larsen is an international figure in Danish visual art. In Paris, she experiences international recognition early in her career and exhibits at some of the most controversial surrealism exhibitions of the time, side by side with artists such as Salvador Dali, Max Ernst and Meret Oppenheim. The work is printed on extra strong, uncoated paper in A3 size (29.7 x 42 cm).&
Rita Kernn-Larsen begins her artistic work with surrealism in partnership with the Danish artists' association, Linien, in Copenhagen. Throughout the 1930s, Rita Kernn-Larsen, like few other contemporary female artists, experienced great international recognition in intellectual and artistic circles.
In connection with her debut in 1934, a reviewer even characterizes her as "a female, Danish Picasso". Despite this, she has never quite gained a fair resonance in our time.
On the other hand, she is particularly successful in France and England, and it is here that Rita Kernn-Larsen will exhibit, live and work for most of her life.
