Finger puppet/singing puppet in pure New Zealand wool, handmade by women in Nepal in close collaboration with the Danish brand, Their Story. The brand originally started the collaboration with Nepalese women to help them after the earthquake in 2015. The women are offered decent conditions, they can work from home and they are offered a fair salary - a significant contribution to the women who in Nepal often live insecure, completely financially and socially dependent of their husbands.
Their Story is looking for an alternative to potentially polluting mass production by investing in less environmentally damaging manufacturing – and social responsibility.
The felt for the finger puppets is made from New Zealand wool. The wool arrives in Nepal, where it is washed and carded until it is completely clean. The wool is then processed, dyed and laid out in the sun to dry, after which it is shaped into balls or desired shapes. The process ends with the finished felt products once again being laid out in the sun for the final drying.
The doll can be used for singing, playing or bedtime stories. Lyrics to "Jens Hansen had a farm" are attached.
The felt dolls are made of 100% wool. The wool is dyed with colors that are free from toxic substances, free from allergenic substances and are 100% AZO-free.
Not suitable for children under 3 years of age without supervision, due to choking hazard.
