Scarf in wool and silk from the English brand, Wallace & Sewell. Harriet Wallace-Jones and Emma Sewell were students at the Royal College of Art and set up their studio together in 1990. Inspired by visual art and the aesthetics of the Bauhaus school, they seek to combine visual art with the craft of weaving and traditional manufacturing techniques in their products - which have a reputation for exquisite quality and innovative design.
When they exhibited for the first time in 1992, their works generated much enthusiasm and interest, especially from Barney's in New York, who placed an order for scarves. This proved instrumental in laying the foundation for the Wallace & Sewell brand. Barneys still buys today.
The brand has designed and produced for various boutique hotels, museums, stadiums and the London Underground, and Wallace & Sewell today supplies over 400 retailers in 25 countries.
Wallace & Sewell's textiles are all produced in England, from natural fibres, from established yarn suppliers. The brand's merino wool is from 100% mulesing-free sheep.
