Kath & Andersen

From backyard to established carpentry shop

Kath & Andersen is the result of Mads Kath and brothers Casper and Thomas Andersen's deep dedication to craftsmanship. Their adventure began in 2021 with a dream to create furniture that combines craftsmanship, quality and design at a high level. The journey started in Mads' parents' backyard with their first workshop. After high school, many hours were spent, and gradually the demand for their craftsmanship increased. The backyard was replaced with a larger carpentry shop on Fanø, which made it possible to accommodate their growing dealer network.

Dedication to true craftsmanship

Kath & Andersen's workshop is the heart of the company's design process and plays a central role in the transformation of ideas into finished furniture. Here, the distance from thought to action is short, and new concepts can be quickly translated into prototypes. The physical framework allows for continuous testing, adjustment and refinement of details, so that both function and aesthetics merge into a higher unity.

Behind the work lies a fascination with woodcraft and an ambition to constantly deepen and improve craftsmanship skills. Countless hours in the workshop have provided experience with the nuances and properties of the material – a knowledge that forms the basis for the development of unique wooden products. Kath & Andersen stems from their shared dedication to the craft, and they thus represent not just a furniture manufacturer, but a story of passion, professional pride and the desire to create furniture where authenticity and quality are at the center.

Inspiration from Danish design traditions
The brand's inspiration stems from classic Danish design traditions, where quality, functionality and solid craftsmanship were the guiding principles. At that time, furniture was created with the expectation of being able to follow the family through generations – a mindset that continues to characterize the company's approach to design and production.

At Kath & Andersen, each piece of furniture is considered more than just a decorative piece. It is the result of a conscious balance between tradition and innovation, where classic craftsmanship principles meet a contemporary design language. The goal is to create furniture that not only fits into the contemporary home, but also retains its relevance and quality for many years to come.

Timeless design in solid oak

At Kath & Andersen, oak plays a central role. The choice of oak is rooted in a respect for nature's resources and an ambition to create furniture with a long lifespan that can last for generations. Oak is the common element throughout the collection. The material is selected with care and comes from responsibly managed forestry. For the brand, it is all about making conscious choices at every stage of the process – from raw material to finished product.

The KA31 cup holder is designed with a functional mindset. It should be easy and simple to hang. In addition, they have made it possible to turn it on both sides, so it fits every home and interior. The inspiration for the cup holder's design comes from the proud Danish carpentry tradition and is therefore assembled with elegant finger joints.

With the Cup Box, you get even more enjoyment from your cups every day and you add personality to your interior.

Exclusivity in every detail

With the KA60 bench, Kath & Andersen has had a clear goal of creating a piece of furniture where exclusivity and detail go hand in hand. Each individual component has been carefully thought out, and the work has been focused on refined joinery joints, which both emphasize the level of craftsmanship and add an aesthetic lift. The included hand-sewn leather cushion, made in Vodskov (Nordjylland) of the highest quality, not only adds a luxurious feel, but also makes the bench even more versatile and comfortable.
