Back on the international map
Matre works to rebuild and strengthen the Norwegian furniture industry by putting Norwegian design back on the international map. They revive furniture designs from Norwegian pioneers such as Peter Opsvik (1939–2024) and Sigurd Resell (1920–2010). The selected furniture is characterized by being functional, but also beautiful in itself - as sculptural elements in the room.
Every product is created with a focus on quality, material awareness, and craftsmanship. Matre works from a holistic perspective, where consideration for nature, people, craft traditions, and the local communities connected to the brand is a natural part of the process. At the same time, the brand places great emphasis on the human values behind production — with a focus on authenticity, community, and personal development.
In addition, Matre has taken the initiative for 'Design Salon' - a vibrant meeting place for Norwegian design, industry and creativity, where they want to create new energy among Norwegian designers and in the furniture industry through collaboration and dialogue.
“Made in Norway”
Matre has been awarded the “Made in Norway” label by Innovation Norway — a mark of quality confirming that the products are manufactured in Norway and meet high standards for responsible and transparent production principles.
