Cindy Sherman – Anti-Fashion

Cindy Sherman - Anti-Fashion accompanies a major exhibition at FOMU Antwerp from September 28, 2024 to February 2, 2025 and explores Sherman's long-standing engagement with fashion as a central part of her artistic practice. The book focuses on how fashion serves as a starting point for Sherman's critical examination of gender, stereotypes, and aging, and how her collaborations with magazines and designers have been a constant source of inspiration.

Through her many assumed roles and characters, Sherman reveals the artificiality and mutability of identity, while challenging our understanding of how identity can be constructed and fluid.
