Exhibition poster with the work, Museum , (1951), by the English artist, Edith Rimmington (1902 – 1986), published in connection with the exhibition, Fantastic Women, at Louisiana in 2020. In London, Rimmington joined the British Surrealist Group in the late thirties, and became one of the most important representatives of British surrealism.

Associated with the Surrealist period, Edith Rimmington attends weekly Surrealist meetings in London. Together with another of the city's Surrealists, Indian-English, Ithell Colquhoun, she practices automatic writing and drawing, a technique for creating art in an almost trance-like state.
Edith Remmington's works are shown in major exhibitions of surrealist art and many of her texts and drawings are published in journals about surrealism.
At Andre Breton's invitation, Remmington participated in the exhibition Le Surrealisme en 1947 at the Galerie Maeght in Paris. In the 1950s, Rimmington moved from London to Sussex and from then on devoted himself mainly to photography.
