Statement finger ring, Four Leaf Clover, from Danish jewelry brand Flora Danica. The four-leaf clovers used to create this ring were picked in Denmark in 1952. At the time, Flora Danica was the first – and only – company in the world to be able to gold-plate and thus immortalize flowers. The first Flora Danica jewelry was based on a copper coating of flowers and leaves, which were transformed into jewelry by skilled craftsmen.
The story of Flora Danica jewelry dates back to 1952, when one of the beloved variety artists of the 1930s, Orla Eggert, developed the idea of making jewelry based on nature's unique designs.
Already in the 1960s, Flora Danica was having difficulty obtaining all the flowers and leaves that were needed for the rapidly growing production. It was especially difficult to obtain all the four-leaf clovers that customers requested. Therefore, there was a regular advertisement in the newspaper encouraging people to hand in four-leaf clovers every Sunday - and as a reward there was one krone per four-leaf clover.
To keep up with the increasing demand, the company started producing the jewelry in solid sterling silver in the 1970s. The jewelry was - and still is to this day - based 100% on the original casts of flowers and leaves from Danish nature in the 1950s and 60s.
The ring is made of 100% recycled sterling silver with a thick 22 karat gold plating.
