The plate with fish motif in porcelain from the Amsterdam-based family brand, Heinen Delft Blue. The connection to fish was there from the beginning: Grandfather Heinen was a fisherman on boat BU7 in Spakenburg in the Netherlands, but the fishing got worse and the next generation switched to ceramics, especially with the special Delft blue color that originates from the East. Son Jorrit is still in the studio in Amsterdam, and with his focus on the craft itself, he bets on the best designers, ceramic painters and ceramic engineers at the brand's own factory, which has been located in China since 2010.
Wilma Plaisier is behind the fish on the plate. She was educated at Royal Delft - the now more than 400-year-old Dutch factory and museum for the blue/white ceramics. Wilma Plaisier was self-employed for 10 years and now designs for Heinen Delfts Blauw.
