The author of the book is the American architect Michael Sheridan. In his tribute to Danish architecture 1950-1962, he describes how Danish architects' ideas about the single-family house combined modern architectural influences from the USA and Japan with the finest in Danish building practice - and thereby created an architectural golden age in Denmark.
Masterpieces begins with a large, innovative essay on the development of the modern house in Denmark from 1920 to 1975, illustrated with more than 150 contemporary photos.
In addition, the 14 houses that Sheridan selected have been newly photographed in color, especially for the book. Masterpieces concludes with biographies of the 11 leading architects who designed the houses.
