Exhibition poster with the work, Hiroshima's Flower, (1968), created by the Croatian artist, Ivan Rabuzin, in connection with the group exhibition, Naive Art, at Louisiana in 1972.

___

In 1972, Louisiana opened its doors to an exhibition that, under the title, Naive Art , embraced naive painters from around the world and contained 500 works.

Characteristic of Ivan Rabuzin's works is that they are a bit dreamy, evocative and delicate. Other naïve artists use a more expressive idiom – but what they have in common is the rejection of the laws of perspective and technical correctness.

Naive art emerged in the 19th century as a reaction to the formal language of academic art and as a continuation of the traditions of folk art. Other perhaps better-known naive artists include Henri Rousseau and, in his own country, Hans Scherfig.
