Peter Cook – Transforming City (1985) Sale price$42.00

Louisiana print with the work, Transforming City, (1985), by architect, Sir Peter Cook, from the exhibition, City landscapes, at Louisiana. For six decades, Peter Cook (b. 1936) has inspired and influenced both architecture and the very thinking about the role of architecture with his visionary ideas about new forms of cities and life. The work is printed on extra strong, uncoated paper in A3 size (29.7 x 42 cm).

___

Drawing has always been the most important tool for the British avant-garde architect and professor. Peter Cook's drawings lie somewhere between the architect's classic drawing and the wildly imaginative sketch of vision - and the drawings are the main product of his work as an architect.

It is in the drawing that the vision of the city and way of life of the future becomes most clear and can best be discussed, believes Peter Cook: In the drawing there is the greatest chance of challenging familiar ideas about our cities and ways of life, without being bound by thoughts about concrete materials and traditional solutions.

Peter Cook has had few buildings built - including the art museum in Graz, Austria. On the other hand, Cook is one of the most significant architects of our time when it comes to architectural visions and theoretical fields: the question of what architecture can and should do.

Peter Cook – Transforming city (1985) is shown as part of the exhibition series, Louisiana on Paper.
