Butter jar with dome lid from Danish ceramicist Sarah Dannesboe. The butter jar is turned on a wheel, made of gray stoneware clay with lava flecks. It is glazed in a semi-matte oatmeal color. The butter can either be placed on the bowl, where the grooves are designed to prevent it from sliding around, or inside the dome. The dome part is intentionally turned a little thicker to maintain a cooler temperature from the refrigerator and prevent the butter from melting too quickly when it is on the table.
Sarah Dannesboe is an English-Danish ceramicist with a workshop in North Zealand. Sarah's ceramics are hand-turned with stoneware clays, and she only uses her own glazes. The ceramics are intended for everyday use, and there is a lot of focus on her products being light, elegant, timeless and functional.
Sarah uses local stoneware clays with a high content of chamotte to create textures and contrast to her glazes. Sarah's inspiration for glaze colors and shades comes partly from the local coastal nature. All of her glazes are completely unique and are developed from scratch by her.
