Yayoi Kusama – The Little Mermaid (English)

Yayoi Kusama is one of the most popular contemporary artists, and she really broke through in Denmark when Louisiana showed a major exhibition with her in 2015. In connection with the exhibition, Louisiana published HC Andersen's tale The Little Mermaid with Kusama's illustrations.

“HC Andersen is a dream born in my heart”, Kusama has said of her relationship with the Danish author. The illustrations are taken from Kusama’s series Love Forever from 2004-2007, supplemented by a few brand new images drawn for the book. The interaction between the classic fairy tale and Kusama’s drawings opens up new readings of HC Andersen’s knowledge of humanity.
