Placemat - SARI

Hand-woven placemat made from recycled sari fabrics by the Swedish design brand A World of Craft. Since all potholders are unique, colors and patterns vary, and it is therefore not possible to choose a specific color. At the same time, the production helps create important jobs for women in rural areas of Bangladesh.

A World of Craft collaborates with local artisans to highlight craftsmanship from developing countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. A large part of A World of Craft's range is developed by A World of Craft Studio, the company's own design team. The idea is to use design as a tool to develop and market traditional crafts and thereby help create jobs in regions where handicraft is currently the primary source of income. In this way, unique craft traditions are given the opportunity to survive, while A World of Craft's customers gain access to crafts from large parts of the world.
