The Nessino lamp from Italian Artemide is an icon of Italian design. Originally designed in the 60s - a decade that heralded the arrival of modernity, also in home decor, through the first uses of plastic. Artemide is one of the world's most recognized lighting brands - known for its "The Human Light" philosophy. We are talking about towering professionalism in lighting design and innovation, with exclusive products, often based on research.
Artemide was founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi and is based in Pregnana Milanese, Italy. The brand has showrooms all over the world, is distributed in 98 countries and several of the brand's lamps are exhibited in a large number of museums for modern art and design collections.
Artemide has contributed to design history with products such as Eclisse (1967, from Vico Magistretti), Tolomeo, (1989, from Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina), Pipe (2004, from Herzog & De Meuron) and the IN-EI Collection (2014, Issey Miyake), all shown at the Compasso D'oro Awards.
In 1994, Artemide received the "Compaso D'oro" career award and the European Design Award in 1997 and the "Leonardo italian Quality Prize" in 2012.
