Cushion, Carte Postale, designed by French designer Inga Sempé for the Danish design brand Elvang. Carte Postale features a graphic pattern consisting solely of two-tone surfaces that meet in the middle. The colours are clear yet enigmatic; they blend like watercolours – a soft pink transitioning into a luminous red, or a blue that brightens more and more the closer it gets to the edge.
French designer Inga Sempé created the Carte Postale collection for Elvang, inspired by the horizon's meeting point between land, sea, and sky. Carte Postale is woven from recycled sheep and alpaca wool, making it light, soft, and durable. The wool is recycled from previous productions and processed in Peru, giving the materials new life. Elvang is also fair trade certified by the WFTO, ensuring responsible production.
In 2002, founders Tina and Lasse Elvang learned about the qualities of alpaca wool during a backpacking trip to Peru. They were captivated by the softness and durability of the wool and began to explore combining a subdued aesthetic design style with centuries-old Peruvian weaving traditions, thereby building strong relationships with artisans, community projects, and factories. A year later, Elvang was born and became the first company to introduce alpaca wool blankets to Scandinavia.
Wool is self-cleaning and rarely requires washing – if needed, dry cleaning is recommended to maintain quality.
