The Ugly Duckling by HC Andersen, illustrated by Marina Abramovi ć . In conjunction with Louisiana's exhibition with Marina Abramović in 2017, the artist created a series of new illustrations for Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale from 1843 – a fairy tale that the famous performance artist has felt connected to since she was a child.
“During my childhood and youth, I completely identified with the adventure. I was also the ugly duckling", as the artist writes in the book's afterword. Abramović has interpreted Andersen's tale with pencil and crayon drawings. The text in the Danish edition is a completely new, revised language edition based on HC Andersen's original text.
