The concept and inspiration behind her jewelry is layer-on-layer with different elements and gemstones – a central characteristic of her designs. The style is simple and feminine, yet edgy, and the materials include gold filled, 9 carat and 14 carat gold. Gold filled jewelry, also known as doublé, consists of a relatively thick layer of gold that is mechanically bonded to a base metal – typically brass or copper. This gold layer often makes up 5–10% of the jewelry's total weight, making it more durable and long-lasting than gold-plated jewelry. Therefore, gold filled jewelry retains its appearance longer and is less prone to losing its gold surface.
