Postcard - Remedios Varo – On Homo Rodans 1959
Choose options
Louisiana Postcard featuring a motif from Remedios Varo's work Regarding Homo Rodans, 1959, published in connection with the exhibition of the surrealist, Spanish-Mexican painter Remedios Varo (September 18). As one of the 20th century's most visionary artists, Varo's distinctive visual world combines the dreamlike, the intellectual, and the spiritual in works that still speak with great power to our contemporary age.
Homo Rodans consists of a skeleton made from bird and rabbit bones, as well as the fictional treatise Regarding Homo Rodans, written by the fabricated archaeologist Hälikcio von Fuhrängschmidt. The work tells the story of a fictional, unicycle-riding humanoid and plays with the boundary between science, fantasy, and art.
