Anti-reflective framing – Arne Jacobsen Skovshoved Petrol Station (1937) Sale price$181.00

Poster with anti-reflective framing of the work Skovshoved Tankstation, (1937), published in connection with the Arne Jacobsen exhibition at Louisiana in 2002, on the occasion of the world-famous architect's 100th birthday. The poster comes pre-framed with a matte laminated surface that significantly reduces reflections from light sources compared to ordinary glass and provides a beautiful, calm visual expression without glare. The frame is made of oak veneer.

The exhibition was a retrospective tribute to the architect and his modernist design and furniture art - here exemplified by the striking gas station at Skovshoved Harbor, north of Copenhagen.

Arne Jacobsen's gas station at Kystvejen 24 was built in 1937 in connection with the construction of the new coastal road around Tårbæk and Skovshoved.

The gas station was built in Jacobsen's well-known functionalist style and is now listed. It is especially known for its striking round roof, which partly provides shade from the sun and partly reflects light from the lamps on the central column and the building - in the same way as today's "up-lights".

The shape of the roof also sends a clear nod to the contours of one of Arne Jacobsen's chairs, the design classic, The Ant, which Jacobsen designed much later, in 1952.
