Choose options
Plantable pencil from the Danish company SproutWorld. The pencil contains a small seed capsule at the tip. When the pencil has been used up, it can be planted in soil, after which the seed sprouts and grows into a plant, flower, or herb.
SproutWorld’s plantable pencils are designed to encourage people to think more about their consumption by giving everyday products a new life. The pencils can be planted after use and grow into plants, helping to reduce waste and benefit nature. They are certified, generate minimal waste, and can be used both as writing instruments and creatively for things like gifts or invitations. They also allow for personalization with different seeds and messages.
SproutWorld started in 2013 with the idea of a plantable pencil developed by MIT students. When Michael Stausholm discovered the concept on Kickstarter, he bought the rights and further developed the company. SproutWorld works to create products that can have a second life after use – such as pencils that can be planted and grow into plants. Today, SproutWorld has sold over 50 million pencils in more than 80 countries and has its headquarters in Copenhagen.
