Louisiana Poster with the work, Model alone in Studio , (2006), by the world-renowned Danish artist, Tal R (b.1967). What happens when the artist leaves the promised workspace, the studio, the atelier? Is it then that the model dances? As a kind of stand-in in the artist's absence, as part of the myth of the artist, the studio and the model? There is an alternating action throughout this work, which can be seen as Tal R's very own version of Matisse's, The Red Atelier. Model Alone In Studio is in the Louisiana collection.

Tal R made his debut at Louisiana in 1997 and almost had a popular breakthrough with the museum's retrospective exhibition, The Sum, in 2007. In 2017, Louisiana opened the first comprehensive presentation of the artist's works, created over the, at the time, past 20 years.
Throughout his work, Tal R has engaged with a multitude of materials and types of work: drawing, collage, print, books and sculpture. He clearly refers to the history of art, but he rather takes his motifs from the real world. Tal R's works function as portals that can invite us into other worlds.
Tal R lets a whole range of different elements flow into his images as a kind of focused play, fascinated by the fragments. Writing, words, traces, form, color and substance - everything comes together and becomes the sum from which the image emerges.
Fundamentally, it is the desire to create and look at images in the first place that is the backbone of Tal R's multifaceted work. This fascination is the basis of Tal R's work and it can hardly avoid spreading to the viewer.
